THE second annual Southport Wine Fest takes place next week and is set to be bigger and better than last year.

Around 280 wines and spirits from across

the globe will be available to taste, with

representatives from each company on hand to give information and answer questions.

The event at Southport Theatre and

Convention Centre will welcome wine

connoisseurs and novices alike.

“This is a unique opportunity to taste wines and talk to people about them,” organiser Dave Smith, of Portland Wines, said. “This is the biggest retail wine show outside London and we want to appeal to everyone who enjoys drinking wine as well as people who may be scared of it and would like to come along and try them.

Among the drinks available at the event

will be Chateau Musar from Lebanon and

Ralph Hochar, nephew of the founder of the

winery in Lebanon.

There will also be a selection of 16 malt

whiskeys.

The Wine Fest takes place on Wednesday

and Thursday July 1 and 2, from 2pm to

8.30pm.

Tickets are £15, but anyone spending £65

or more on 12 or more bottles of wine will

get their entry fee refunded.
